How much and what kind?
Why does my neighbors lawn look better than mine?

There are so many variables to this one that it best left for the scientists and collegiates to debate. Simply stated all plants need to be fed in a safe efficient fairly priced manner. The numbers on fertilizer can often be confusing. And, what's more the types of fertilizer and how the ingredients are manufactured is confusing. Why does one bag of 24-9-16 fertilizer cost $10.95 while another, same numbers, cost $28.95. It has to do with knowing what kind of fertilizer to use and how much of it to apply. It also has to do with how fast or slow of a release is the fertilizer to work. We at Arborville believe that many yard problems are a result of the misapplication of fertilizer either through misunderstanding of how much to apply which is a result on how the product is designed to be used.

Dry vs. Liquid - The debates will continue on forever. Arborville believes that dry granular fertilizer is better than liquid applications. We believe it releases the fertilizer at a slower rate over a longer period of time and puts less stress on the plants. However we believe that there is no better weed control than liquid. While this method of applying both treatments takes more time than applying both materials through a liquid tank truck, we believe it performs better.

Smith vs. Jones - The worst game that we can play on ourselves is the comparison of our yard to the neighbors or the people down the street. Especially the difference in grass color. Dark green color is not one of the criteria for a healthy lawn. Other reasons that lawns are different follow: the type of base used in the backfill, the top soil type and quantity in height used, the composition of amendments to the soil before adding vegetation, the type of seed used vs. another, what type and where the sod came from, the maintenance of the grass, the differences in watering, the difference in the micro climate of the yard to the others.
