DISEASE - Why my yard and nobody else's?
Summer Patch Disease - The most prevalent and nastiest disease that can attack a yard is summer patch disease. This is the one that forms donut circles where there is a ring of dead grass around a clump of green grass. As the disease develops over the season the shape takes on the form of may other diseases. This is a progressive disease that is driven by a soil borne fungus. The amount that shows up year after year can be controlled and there are other methods to minimize the damage that appears. This is a disease problem that must be attacked from the onset of the season and throughout the season. This disease does not go away and is always there and must be managed.
All other diseases - Leaf smuts, molds, and rust
are examples of diseases that come and go with the season and usually
do not do that much damage in one or two seasons. If the disease is persistent
over three or more years then ask for help.
