2008 OUTLOOK
While pricing is greatly affected by petroleum prices and the outlook currently indicates a plus $4.00 per gallon price by spring, we have made a decision to keep pricing levels this year the same as in 2007.
The months of December 2007 and January and February of 2008 have been horrendous regarding weather patterns. The dramatic ups and downs have created a ride outdoing the scariest of roller coaster rides. I have tripled the amount of salt used in our commercial snowplowing services this winter season and it is only the middle of February. At the end of February we have had app. 53" of snowfall where we normally have 38" on average for the entire year. I am hoping the severe temperatures drops (with drops in 1 day up to 50 degrees down to minus 35 degrees) will help fend of insect and diseases in the 2008 season. However, curiously, the cold temperatures in February 2007 did not help in this area (as listed under the 2007 recap).
There are no magic formulas or tricks or illusions in creating a great outdoor presence of our grass, shrubs, and trees. There are three team players involved in the game. Mother Nature is the most important and carries the greatest strength and control (and we have no control here). Arborville is a player and provides an economical service while acting as a steward in the maintenance of properties. And then there is the YOU. Each of the three players have their own jobs in helping make the outside landscaping the best it can be. I hope you review the www.arborville.biz website and take to heart the advice that has been collectively put together over the years. No year is perfect and no player in the game is perfect, but collectively we attempt to maintain and or improve upon keeping our outside landscapes fresh and green and growing.
I encourage you to reinvest in your properties and keep them fresh and green and growing by modifying or changing certain aspects of the outside landscape on a three year cycle. It can be cost justified to remove it and change it, as it can be to continually prune the same old shrubs every year. Nothing remains the same and I invite you to keep your outside plantings balanced with new young plants in addition to the older specimen plants of your property.
The overseeding project we offered in the late summer of 2007 was warmly accepted and we have made a decision to make this reasonably priced service available on an annual basis.
Most work is pre-arranged and scheduled by April 1st. This is important, as we need time to make final adjustments to orders. Please do not wait. CALL NOW!
A note on dethatching grass; This over advertised method of making a company top line sales and profit while keeping employees busy is NOT an annual recommended cultural procedure!!!!!
I realize that Arborville is a service company and your options are many. I thank you for your business and support and will provide the same attention to your home as I do at mine.
Regards,
Kristin Bellows
